Narrative:
Savannah State University maintains policies related to academic calendars, grading, and refunds, which are aligned with the policies of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. Savannah State University adheres to these Board of Regents policies in its institutional academic calendars, grading policies and refund policies. These policies are widely available to all constituencies (potential and current students and parents, distance and on-campus students, etc.) via online publications ( Undergraduate Catalog and Graduate Catalog ) and websites ( Bursar's Office and the Office of the Registrar ). Additional descriptive information follows for each publication policy: academic calendar, grading, and refunds. The current academic calendars, grading policies, and refund policies of SSU are available to the public and to students in hard copies of the undergraduate and graduate catalogs, and on the SSU website
Academic Calendar:
The SSU academic calendars for the current academic year (Summer 2016 through Spring 2017) and archived academic calendars from Summer 2013 through Spring 2016 are on the University's web site ( Academic Calendars ) and published in the undergraduate catalog (Academic Calendars) . The academic calendar contains dates of significant events and activities relative to the academic enterprise of the university. These include beginning dates for each semester; dates for advisement and registration; first day of classes; mid-term and final examinations; and university holidays. The academic calendar also includes dates of standing special events during the academic year, such as Founders' Day, Honors Convocation, and Commencement.
Grading Policies:
Grading policies for SSU are standard across the University System of Georgia (USG) and are approved by the Board of Regents (BOR). These policies are published in the SSU Undergraduate Catalog (Grading Policies) and on the SSU website (Grade Point Average) .
The standard format for the system is also published online in the BOR Policy Manual:

Grading policies pertaining to undergraduate students at SSU are published in the University Catalog (Grades and Grading Policies) . Grading policies for graduate students appear in the Graduate Catalog (Grades and Grading Policies) . Grading procedures are outlined in the Faculty Handbook (2.14.2-Reporting of Grades ), available online.
Financial Policies:
SSU's financial policies are congruent with USG BOR guidelines as outlined in the BOR Policy Manual (7.3.5 - Refunds). Board refund policies relate to specific cases for withdrawing students, deceased students, and military service refunds. SSU's refund policies also conform to the Department of Education's requirements as described in the Federal Student Aid Handbook (Chapter 11, "Financial Standards") where reserve standards, timely refunds and the like are specified.
